The reason why

Here is the 2nd Edition of our project "Dénicheurs du savoir-faire". With Inis Meain, the most famous workshop in the Aran Islands (and one of the most secret workshops in the world), we have revisited a traditional piece: the Irish sailor sweater. After several months of work, we are proud to present you this one-of-a-kind piece, which pays tribute to the history of Inis Meain, while respecting the Atelier Particulier DNA: modernized piece, ultra comfortable material (Baby Merino).

Did you know Baby Cashmere? Here is the Baby Merino!

Baby Merino is a wool fiber obtained exclusively from the first shearing of merino lamb. It is therefore even finer and softer than classic merino.
The Baby Merino meets all your needs:
- Very warm (100% suitable for winter in France)
- Ultra soft
- Thermoregulating (you won't be too cold or too hot)
- Hypoallergenic (ideal for sensitive skin)
- Easy to care (a bowl of fresh air will suffice to erase odors)
The Baby Merino is in a way the "Baby Cashmere of Merino"!

Irish heritage for today

Behind the sweater that we offer you is an archive piece that Inis Meáin keeps preciously: the sweater by Máirtín Beag Gansey.
Máirtín was a fisherman on the island more than 100 years ago.
We wanted to modernize this unique piece:
- 5 traditional knitting stitches
- An exceptional wool: Baby Merino
- A collar that does not tighten and buttons on the sleeves
- 3 mottled colors, modern and easy to wear
A historic piece that you will keep for a long time!

Much more than a sweater

Inis Meain is a very small island of 9km² and 180 inhabitants. A bit like "Ile aux Moines" in France.
Out of 180 inhabitants, 20 are workshop artisans. Or 10% of the population. We can therefore say that Inis Meain is the social and economic heart of the island.
At AP, we like to say that our sweater is more than a sweater. This is a piece of island history, the gift of the community of Inis Meain to the community of Atelier Particulier.

What is the mission of "Les Dénicheurs du Savoir-Faire"?

This is a project that we have nurtured since our launch in 2013. For us, there is no better way to highlight the skills that we love.
The "Dénicheurs du Savoir-Faire" is the association between a company passionate about craftsmanship - Atelier Particulier - and a workshop with exceptional know-how.
Our objective ? Give you access to a unique and high quality piece. While giving increased visibility to independent workshops, sometimes in difficulty, which do not have the means to make themselves known as large groups.
