The reason why
For more than 200 years, Arpin has been spinning and weaving a wool with a raw feel, as dense as it is durable. To dress up today's modern interiors, we have chosen to offer you a cushion with dual expertise. The cover is made from a dense, textured woolen fabric. A real pleasure every day. And for comfort and softness, we offer you the best: a cushion padded with duck feathers.
A story that began in 1817
It is rare to come across companies that were born even while Napoleon was alive. Arpin is one of them.
It all started in 1817, when the Duchy of Savoy was not yet French. Two brothers, Alexis and Jean-Baptiste Arpin, then opened a workshop in Séez Saint-Bernard. In this city that Arpin will never leave, Jacques Arpin continues to this day the family tradition of master woolers.
200 years of living heritage business
Fully registered in its territory, Arpin transforms the wool of the mountain pastures which surround it. Rare enough to underline it, its iconic fabrics are entirely made from A to Z in its Savoyard workshop in Séez. Arpin masters each step: washing, carding, spinning and weaving are carried out on site. And the fringing is still done by hand ... Unique in France, this know-how is recognized by the State label "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant".
The most beautiful of Arpin's yarns ?
The Arpin cushion that we have selected is adorned with a wool called "Etoffe des Aravis". It is the lightest wool in their range (350 g / m2). It is recognized for its weaving weft which reveals its roughness. The material effect is inimitable. A feast for the eyes that lovers of contemporary design will not miss.
